FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - AT THE TRI CAMPS
some of this may help you before you book or before you come over to Les Stables.
TRAINING QUESTIONS
I've never done a triathlon before. Does that matter?
No. You need to be prepared to commit to the coaching and get involved but some of our biggest fans came on camp never having done a triathlon before.
Will everyone be better than me?
It doesn’t matter how good you are. The camps are about your own personal improvement, not about racing the other people on the camp or the elite athletes.
Are the rides guided or can I do my own thing?
All rides are guided and we operate a no drop policy so that no-one gets left behind to find their own way back . However, this is your trip so you have the opportunity to either go and do your own thing or take part in the guided ride. We are more than happy to provide maps and explain routes for you to go out and explore.
The guided routes provide a variety of terrains and distances. We know the road network like the back of our hand (well most of them!) so can always throw in a hill if everyone is up for it or take a flat route home.
How many people will be in the group?
We make sure we have a good guide to athlete ratio and aim to have two coaches with each group at all times. Sometimes the groups will splinter into sub groups though. To ensure it is safe and to allow for different abilities and energy levels, we sometimes split into different groups.
Do I have to train everyday and what else is there to do?
No you can do as little or as much as you like.
Do I need to be super-fit?
No. You need to be prepared for a week’s training with sessions every day but there’s no need to try and get “camp fit”.
DO I NEED TO BRING POOL BUOYS OR KICK BOARDS?
No. we have everything you need at the pool including Pool Buoys, Kick Boards, fins, snorkels and paddles
Do I need to bring sport specific nutrition?
We are lucky to be sponsored by High5 who provide, energy drinks, gels and hydration tablets. But please feel free to bring any additional products you like to use.
Can someone help me put my bike back together?
Unfortunately we are not in a position to act as bike mechanics but we will be happy to assist as best we can if you are having problems. In the unlikely event of a serious problem we have a great relationship with the local bike shop in Brantome, but you need to know how to put your bike together when you arrive. We have a full set of tools and “on the road” spares so unless you’re bike is particularly unusual you shouldn’t need to bring any specific tools. Please be able to do basic maintenance on your bike such as fixing a puncture and putting a chain back on. We can guide you on this but is your responsibility to fix any issues. There is a bike shop close to the hotel if need be but please, if bringing your bike arrive with it in good working order. Always a good idea to have it serviced before you travel.
Can I ride my TT bike in group rides?
For safety reasons we request
Can I do more training?
You are welcome to add additional work you wish – e.g. extend their ride(s), run(s) etc. However, we usually find the week as scheduled to be sufficient for most.
